👋 I’m Noelani— but you can call me Noel!

The second I saw the email in my inbox outlining the lead designer position at GoodParty, I knew I had to apply. With five years of experience in designing SaaS software, and ten volunteering for independent candidates, I believe my skills are well suited to guide design thinking at GoodParty to drive voter engagement and civic leadership.

Relevant experience

I’d like to highlight a few of the skills I can bring to GoodParty.

My expertise in UX design for SaaS organizations, alongside my background in grassroots organizing, would enable me to onboard quickly and drive meaningful projects from the get-go.

  • In my current role at Greenlight Guru, a SaaS company for the medical device industry, I am the lead designer for the Training Management, Documents, and Change workspaces. During my three year tenure at the company, some of my responsibilities have included:

    • User interviewing and generative research analysis

    • Creating design artifacts from wireframes to prototypes

    • Testing solutions through quantitative, evaluative research (A/B and multivariate user testing)

    • Collaborating with developers to execute design QA tests and ensure successful handoffs

In my previous role at SafeStamp, a global nanotechnology company, I managed a total of 36 interns (divided into 6 teams) to conduct research, design, and development projects. I accrued valuable skills like:

    • Quantifying impact and communicating to stakeholders

    • Planning and executing research projects

    • Investigating market trends in order to comprise accurate strategic recommendations

  • For the past ten years, I’ve been deeply involved in grassroots organizing and electoral campaigning in a volunteer capacity.

2016: My journey started when I began volunteering with Bernie Sanders’ first presidential campaign. I was heavily involved with phonebanking and coordinating tabling events in my area.

2020: After several years of involvement with political activism groups on my college campus, namely FossilFreeNU and Northwestern Prison Education Program, I supported Stephanie Mendoza's successful bid for City Clerk in Evanston, IL. I was responsible for voter registration drives and drafting voter education materials.

2022: I supported the Socialist Workers Party’s Lea Sherman’s congressional bid, where she would have represented New Jersey’s 8th congressional district. My role included phonebanking and youth outreach.

2024: Most recently, I’ve supported the Party for Socialism and Liberation’s presidential campaign, led by Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia. I was responsible for coalition building and served as a PSL liaison with local advocacy organizations in Brooklyn, NY.

I’m also heavily involved in housing activism through my local tenant union, and am a registered member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

  • My academic background is in journalism, in which I hold a degree from Northwestern University. Some of the topics I’ve covered include:

    • Indigenous history: I researched, shot, and edited a story about Carlos Montezuma, the first Indigenous student to attend Northwestern, featured in the Knight Lab’s Indigenous Tour of Northwestern.

    • Sustainability: I researched and wrote an article covering sustainable methods in UX and software engineering.

I also have extensive experience in graphic design and fine art. Click here to view some of my work in another tab!

I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with GoodParty to make campaigning easier for independent candidates fighting the good fight to make electoral politics more reflective of a truly representative democracy. I think we’re a great match — if you think so too, don’t hesitate to reach out.
